London Trend Selection 2014

Yesterday we were one of 7 exhibitors at the London Trend Selection in the Soho Hotel showing our new collection for Spring / Summer 15 for the first time....

Our Stand

This show has a much more boutique feel to it, and the quirky design of the Soho Hotel lends itself perfectly to it.

It was nice to see so many British designers attending and our new collection and colours for the season went down well, which is always good!

New Summer Pastels and Brights in range of  different finishes on our classic, even grained Goats; Metallic Tipped, Natural Grained Patents, Nubucks, Hand boarded and White Inlay effects.

We also showed a few brighter colours of our vintage look, oily pull up and waxy finishes, which are highly burnishable and perfect for footwear or leathergoods where you want a very natural, vintage look that will get better with age.

Our unique African Goats lend themselves perfectly to the vintage look, with their striking, natural grain pattern which we emphasise in a variety of different finishes and effects.

It was a great start to the new season, next stop....New York!

Focus On: Vintage/ Distressed Leathers

Not necessarily a new trend, but one that continues to grow is that of natural looking, vintage, distressed leathers which highlight and enhance the natural grain pattern of the leather, giving the end product that coveted vintage look straight from the shelf.

We find that our unique, African Goat and Sheep leather lends itself particularly well to this vintage style, as the unique grain lines create interest and character that can be emphasised in many different ways to create a vast array of different, striking looks. some of which can be seen below:

Perhaps hard to believe, but these all of these article started out life as the same creature!...

Some more examples of various finishes on our African raw material...

We are constantly thinking of new ways to develop this range of our leathers and finding inspiration from all around, including this -unintentionally- 'shabby chic' door we came across on a recent trip to India....

The different colours, and textures all add interest and character, and as with our leathers will only continue to get better with age...

We are strong believers in keeping our leather as natural as possible, in order to enhance the natural beauty of the grain, and not over finish or cover up the grain, this will also allow the leather to age beautifully so that the end product, whether handbag, shoes or any other small leather goods can be enjoyed for many years.

After all... 'Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without.' Confucius

Appointment with HRH The Prince of Wales

We were very honoured to be invited as local business leaders to be invited to attend in a showcase of local manufacturers with HRH The Prince of Wales. In an event to showcase the best of British companies who export their goods all over the world.

Liz Basing, Regional Director of East of England, said:

'Today puts a group of top Bedfordshire exporters in the spotlight and I'm delighted we have the opportunity to showcase these companies as a sample of the best the county has to offer.'

The Man Himself!

The event was held at Jordans Mill in Bedfordshire and showcased a variety of products from Beer at Charles Wells Brewery, to hats and fascinators at Walter Wright amongst others.

We each had our own section to showcase a selection of our range to present to His Royal Highness- ours looked a lot like this...

Our Stand, next to Charles Wells Brewery and Walter Wright Hat Makers.

We showcased a few of our Classic, Best selling lines as well as some of our new metallic foiled articles, to add a bit of sparkle!

A close up of some of the products made from our leather that we had on display.
Special thank you to Dangerous 9 straps for the watch strap they made us for the event made from our Marsh 'Dirty Denim' leather.

Head over to their site for more information on the Safari collection made from our leather and the beautiful, bespoke watch straps that they make.

Waiting for His Royal Highness to Arrive!...

Prince Charles looking at one of our best sellers that we have been producing for over 20 years.... and its still in fashion!

Deep in Conversation!

It really was a pleasure to meet HRH The Prince of Wales, he seemed very genuinely interested in our business and came across very nice chap!

Charles had obviously been well briefed and new a lot about our business and was interested to ask a lot about the types of leather we manufacture and was very pleased to see that it was still a family run  business.

I wasn't sure whether to include this last picture as it's not the most flattering action shot! ....but it does capture a lovely moment!.....
